Students demand more teachers.
Several students and their parents staged dharna by locking the main gate of an upper primary school in Gopinathpur village of Kendrapada district demanding the appointment of more teachers.Gopinathpur Upgraded Upper Primary School, which has about 145 students from classes 1 to VIII,has been functioning with four teachers since March 2022.The number of sanctioned teaching posts is right.

"Four teachers are handling over 145 students for more than a year.Recently the authorities decided to transfer a teacher from the school for which we are agitating." said Baijayanti Rout,a parent.

"The teaching staff crunch has had an adverse impact on the quality of education.Our repeated requests to address the issue has fallen on deaf ears," said Bhikari Das, another parent."We will continue our agitation till the officials fulfill our demand," said the mother of a Class VII student.Kailash Chandra Dalai,BEO of Rajkanika,said,"We transferred a teacher recently to nearby panki primary school as the sole teacher there retired on April 1.The authorities will soon appoint more teachers in the Gopinathpur school."
