Veteran actress Jharana Das passes away. 

Veteran odia actress  Jharana Das passed away in her residence at the age of 82.She was suffering from long days of old age disease. She is a talented actress as well as a renounced singer.During her film career,she have performed 40 more films as the female lead and character artiste..Among them, films includes Amada Bata(1963),Malajanha(1965),Nabajanma(1965),Adinath Megha(1970),Sri Jagannath(1979),Hisab Nikas(1982) and Puja Phula(1985).These films gives her widespread fame and recognition. Das had received the prestigious Jayadev Award for the year 1997 from the odisha government for outstanding contributions to odia film industry.People remember her best performance  in odia films,theater,radio drama and voice-over art.Her stint with Air and Doordarshan helped her produce many creative content in drama,song,film and other genres.She had also directed a biographical documentary film on freedom  fighter and former Odisha  chief minister  Dr. Harekrushna Mahatab.Das retired from Doordarshan as station director in 2000.Due to her death president Droupadi Murmu,chief Minister Naveen Patnaik ,Union  education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, BJP leader Baijayant Panda  and other eminent personalities condoled the death of actor.Many well wishers,actors and Intellectuals  visited her residence  at Chandi Road to pay their last respects.
