BDA will lighting for worldcup hockey 2023.

To give a vibrant look to the state capital ahead of the upcoming men's Hockey world cup-2023,the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has come up with  a unique plan to light up eight important  stretches with a colour scheme based on hockey. 

     The Development Authority  has issued a RFP inviting agencies  to execute the the project. The lighting system will be temporary. The agency will arrange the lighting system in eight selected stretches. It will be installed with a look and feel them to make the city look more vibrant and lively during the world cup tolled by BDA vice-Chairman Balwant Singh.

    The agency  will install various components of lighting such as color LED lights,floodlights and also  the applique lamp shades.

      The eight  stretches identified for the lighting are Airport Square to AG Square,AG Square to Governor House Square, Governor House Square to the World Traffic,Jayadev Vihar Square to Kalinga Hospital Square, Madhusudan  marg between Housing Board Square to Ram Mandir Square, Jan path and Hotel Crown to Jayadev Vihar.The lighting  system will  come up at least three days before  the hockey World  cup.The agency selected for the project will install, operate and maintain the lighting system till it is in place.Since the lighting system  is temporary in nature, the agency will take it down after the hockey world cup tolled by a developer Authority official. 

   Residents and sports lovers welcomed the idea of city beautification. Bhubaneswar is indeed a smart city.The Transformation of the city is visible. It should  continue  even after the world cup gets over, said Abhimanyu  Naik, a resident of unit IV.

     Apart from  lighting of the selected  stretches, the BDA has come up with plans to light up with plans to light up several flyovers.Besides, a number  of apartments have also  been selected for lighting  to make  the city more beautiful  ahead  of the world cup. All the projects are being executed in a fast-track manner, said the official.
