Teachers withdraw from the strike but protests continue.
After meeting with government officials on withdrawing their ongoing protest,the agitating teachers of 622 category of colleges conditionally joined exam duty during the annual higher secondary exam beginning from March 1.The teachers, however,said their symbolic protest will continue at the Mahatma Gandhi Marg till their demands are fulfilled.
"Keeping in mind future of students,whom we taught for two years,we decided to join the exam duty from March 1.We discussed our demands with the government officers and they said they have formed a committee and are positively considering their implementation.But we would wait till the committee comes out with its final recommendations and till then our strike will continue symbolically," said president of the teacher's association,Golak Nayak.
The teachers are on protest for the last 15 days demanding revision of their salaries and order equal work for equal pay with other category of teachers.Tbey are seeking remuneration on a par with others under Odisha (Payment of Grant-in-Aid to the Non-government Aided Degree Colleges,Aided Junior Colleges and Aided Higher Secondary Schools) Grant -in-Aid Order,2022.
Arrangements have been completed for the beginning of annual higher secondary examination from March 1 at 1,145 centres.Question papers for nine days have already been sent to the question hubs.All examination centers are under CCTV surveillance.
The students of science stream will appear for MIL(Odia) on the first day on March 1, while the students of arts and commerce streams will appear for MIL(Odia) on March 2.
