Unique flyover makeover for hockey world cup 2023.
The 12-km stretch of the flyover over National Highway 16 from Rasulgarh Square to DN Regalia Square at Ghatikia will wear a new look with place-specific designs and shades of color being used to lend different themes to the junction.
The edges of the roofs of the flyovers, the pillars and walls will be beautified with colors so as to enhance the visual appeal. The naked flyover passing through the city's prominent junctions is often dubbed an eyesore. The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has identified the flyover junctions and after a survey by planners, designers and architects framed its makeover ahead of the men's Hockey world cup, an officer of BDA said.
The flyover passes through seven junctions-Vani Vihar,Acharya Vihar,Jayadev Vihar, CRPF Square,Fire Station,Khandagiri and AIIMS Square with Rasulgarh and DN Regalia Square at two opposite extremes. These squares bear different identities and based on their significance, shades of color and themes have been decided.Vani Vihar Square has been named after Utkal University otherwise known as Vani Vihar. The BDA has chosen to use olive green shade on the flyover to reflect prosperity, freshness and greenery. This is also the starting point of smart Jan path. The University gate faces the flyover as well. The CRPF square is named so because the campus of Central Reserve Police Force is located there and it has a green patch that runs towards Ekamra Kanan. So this square bears light green color to justify the significance of the place.
The fire station square will be beautified in such a manner so as to make it look like firemen in action.Their valor and courage will be depicted through color design on the walls. The picture of firemen in action will also be drawn.
Meanwhile, the stamps project - a street art and mural-is on the verge of becoming a comedian.Based on the idea that the city should look as beautiful as its citizens want it to be,the BMC received 300 entries from people on how to beautify the wall with different themes.
After some entries were selected, the BMC hired 28 artists, provided them with painting kits and uniform. The artists were selected by odisha Lalit Kala Akademy.
