Odisha government approved II industrial projects worth Rs 2840.73 crores through the State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA). The projects will generate 3721 employment opportunities for the people of the state.

    The projects cover various sectors including aluminium and aluminium downstream, steel and steel downstream, chemicals and plastics, food processing and packaging, textiles and apparel, tourism and renewable energy received approvals. The approved projects will be set up in Balangir, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Mayurbhanja, Rayagada, Sambalpur and Sundargarh districts.

The SLSWCA approved the proposal of RCR Steel Works Private Limited for setting up a steel plant in Jamda in the Mayurbhanj district entailing an investment of RS 896.98 crores. The committee also approved the expansion proposal of Utkal Alumina International Ltd at Raysgada district and Hindslco Industries Limited at Lapanga, Sambalpur, which promises a cumulative investment of nearly Rs 1000 crores.

The project proposal of Mahindra Holidays and Resorts India Ltd to set up a resort at Apollo Island, Chilika Lake in the Ganjam district with an investment of Rs 228.45 crores has also been approved by the committee. In the chemicals sector, the committee gave a nod to a project, by Ion Exchange (India,) Ltd.With an investment of Rs 303 crores for setting up a manufacturing unit of 25000 MT Water Treatment Chemicals and 30000 MT Monomer and polymers in Para deep. In the textiles and apparel sector, Indian Stitches Private Limited is setting up a fabric processing plant with an investment of Rs100 crores. In the food processing sector, the project proposal of Taj SATs Ltd to set up food processing and packaging units in Khordha worth Rs 51 crore has been approved, official sources said.
