Students dharna for MDM dal.

Protesting against not being provided with dal for the noon meal, students in Rasgovindpur walked 1.5km with their plates to the Block Development officer.

   The distressed students who walked with utensils were students of Vinod Rai Government Upper Primary School in Rasgovindpur and they demanded action against the Self Help Group who neglected the MDM service.

      The children squatted on dharna in front of the gate of the BDO for four hours as the officer was absent.He was reportedly at an official meeting in Baripada.

     They raised their voice against the SHG who provided only rice saying dal was scarce.

      The students said they had informed the School management and their parents had also reported to the district education office.A few days after the complaint,the SHG mended its ways for a week or so but it was back to the same once again as no action was taken against the students.

       It is alleged that the SHG has the support of ruling BJD leaders of the area.

        Biswanath Singh,a local,said that the students continued to sit on dharna from 1.30pm to 5pm.The BDO Lalatendu Si returned from Baripada and assured that he will order an enquiry into the incident and take necessary action.
