Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan said the Centre will collaborate with the Singapore government to introduce the letter's vocational education system in India's schools from Class VI onwards.

    "The best practices of Singapore and India will be incorporated in the school system for integrating skilling and re-skilling in the school curriculum," Pradhan said here while taking part in a workshop titled 'Future of Work Skill Architecture and Governance Models of India and Singapore,' where delegates from both countries discussed various possibilities of collaboration in school education.

      The stakeholders of both countries discussed how the  Singapore model of skill development and vocational education will be implemented in the Indian education system, starting from schools to higher education institutes." The plan is to create a skill ecosystem like Singapore by adopting their best practices and curriculum and making necessary changes in our system," Pradhan added.

      Describing India and Singapore as strategic partners the High Commissioner of the Republic of Singapore to India, Simon Wong, said " Going by India's growth trajectory we believe that it will be among the top three economies of the world in the years to come. We have partnered with  India by linking payment modules of both countries --- YOU and Paynow and tied up with ISRO.We are very happy to be the skill and knowledge partner of India Singapore follows a skilling philosophy of leaving no one befriend, training for decent jobs and building a confident nation."

    The collaboration between the two countries will help in achieving the target to upskill at least 50% of students in schools and higher education institutes by 2025," San Jay Kumar, Union Secretary of School and Literacy, Ministry of Education said.
