Edu-Tech firm to provide courses to girl students.

    The state government signed a memorandum of understanding(MoU) with Coursera, a California-based private education technology company to teach and provide training on new-age courses to girl students of the state.

      According to the MoU, fellowships will be given to 2,000 girl students from polytechnic and engineering colleges in the state to study different online certificates courses like data analytics, metaverse certification and AI. They can learn the value-added and new-age certification courses for free, said official sources.

       "Coursera is one of the world's largest online learning platforms. A student can learn many courses and get employment in related industries," said Reghu G, director of technical education and training, at the Odisha Skill Conclave here.

     Raghav Gupta, managing director (India and Asia Pacific ), Coursera, said we are honoured to partner with the Odisha government and support their vision of building a more equitable society, empowering more women to unlock their full earning potential and thrive in the digital economy."

     He said they have created a career academy on their edu- tech platform."We have focussed on 30 job roles, mostly digital ones. We have created content for these jobs. We have introduced industry micro-credentials to help people learn new and targeted skills to get jobs. Companies like Google, and IBM are teaching data analytics while Meta is teaching software development," he said.
